-No one measure can assess the difficult airway, combinations of the assessment measures below should be used. 

Mouth opening

  • Inter-incisor distance
  • Mallampati score
  • (tongue)
Jaw

  • Protrusion of lower teeth in front of upper teeth
  • Thyromental distance
Neck

  • Flexion of vertebrae
  • Extension of atlanto-axial joint
  • Neck circumference

Dentition

  • Dental work
  • Damaged teeth
