Soda Lime

Picture
Soda lime is used to absorb carbon dioxide from the circuit.  Different anaesthetic machines use a variety of canisters and storage mechanisms.  In general
1.  Check that the canister is present and appropriately positioned
2.  Soda Lime becomes purple as it is exhausted.  Heavily stained soda lime may require changing.
3.  Soda lime definitely needs changing if the baseline concentration of carbon dioxide in the circuit begins to rise.
